| Designed to enrich and augment classroom and laboratory studies, the student life experience is a vital part of the undergraduate education.
First-year students have a variety of on-campus residence options from which to choose. Six halls are exclusively populated by freshmen, and two halls house freshmen and upperclassmen together. Every residence hall has lounges and a kitchen. All rooms have cable access and are wired for phone, Ethernet, and Internet access.
Freshman students are required to be on a meal plan and can choose from six different options. Campus dining is designed to satisfy all appetites, tastes and dietary requirements with all types of menus and meal plans, and at several campus locations.
The off-campus selection of restaurants is also varied. Plus, more than 20 pizza, Chinese, and other restaurants deliver to the Rensselaer campus.
The Rensselaer campus is home to more than 200 clubs and organizations, offering students myriad opportunities to get involved in activities outside the classroom. Students are encouraged to pursue old interests and explore new ones in a wide variety of outlets.
Seventy percent of undergraduate students at Rensselaer are engaged in athletics, a cornerstone of campus life. Twenty-three varsity teams, 50 intramural and club sports, and a variety of organizations ranging from billiards and bowling to squash and volleyball allow students countless opportunities for fitness and recreation.
From the moment they step onto campus, Rensselaer students are provided with the support they need for a successful college career.
